Artist’s Statement & Profile

My history is rich in service to and with animals, both furry and upright – with a special connection to the feral cat and all things wild. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed a consistent passion for the untamed, their caretakers and those marginalized by varying social structures. It’s extremely enjoyable finding solutions, building consensus and bridging the gap between those in need and communities where they live.

Since 2005 and the purchase of my first DSLR, I have enjoyed developing my skill in the art of photography. I also dabble with film, mostly black and white. With each occasion to create new work, I strive to continue that pursuit of new territory and refinement. Other interests include cooking instruction, art modeling, music education, with a background in community theater direction and production.

As a conceptual artist, I am internally driven and emotionally charged. The camera molds the environment not as seen but as revealed through the process of framing and composition. Drawing on a variety of influences, I meld photographic practices with digital technologies to transform simple, everyday objects and situations from normal perception into the textures of lyrical emotion and chaotic moods. In communing with myself, these representations go beyond conventional language so that my inner dialogue is made manifest, and my thoughts become deconstructed to show another mode of expression.

Composition is texture. Street photography, photojournalism, abstract impressionism, music, figure drawing, modeling and painting all share a common denominator in the layering of interpretation. These processes are all related, and the drive for innovation provides an effortless manifestation of work. I want to create something that pushes me to the point of completion that results in an evolution taking me to the next iteration of inspiration. That restless energy, that movement, is important to me and to my imagery.

Thank you for taking the time and having the interest, in browsing through my site of sample imagery.
